Mazhar Ali Bari
Dr. Mazhar Ali Bari is a seasoned Deeptech and Cleantech expert with over 25 years of experience driving innovation and business growth across multiple industrial sectors. He is Regional Director for Saudi Arabia at WAIYS, where he leads initiatives in cognitive, real-time AI, and Managing Partner at CognoVation, a Riyadh-based consultancy accelerating deep technology and clean technology ventures.
From September 2024 to November 2025), he was the Director for Technology and Innovation at Energy Services Company (ESC) – A PIF Portfolio company for Green Hydrogen development, he was spearheading the Renewables, Storage, and Transmission components of the ESC Technical Master Plan, including conceptual design, scenario analysis, and multi-partner data integration. Conducted technical due diligence, delivering actionable insights and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
Previously, Dr. Bari served as Senior Vice President for Technology and Innovation at Siemens Saudi Arabia and headed the MindSphere Application Centre, focusing on the Circular Carbon Economy, Industry 4.0, cognitive cities, and digitalization-driven growth. From 2015 to 2018, he was a strategic consultant at King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE), guiding technology localization and commercialization in advanced renewable energy.
As Founder of Science Technology Research Partners (STREP) Ltd. in Ireland, he developed cutting-edge technologies and spun out SolarPrint Ltd., where he served as CEO and CTO to commercialize dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) for IoT applications. Earlier, he led the Conception and Implementation of Nanoscale Spin Electronics (CINSE) program at Trinity College Dublin, building a world-class research team that produced over 100 peer-reviewed papers.
Dr. Bari holds an MPhil in Microelectronic Engineering and Semiconductor Physics and a PhD in High-Temperature Superconducting Qubits from the University of Cambridge, along with an International Executive MBA from University College Dublin, where he is also a visiting professor. He is the author of 10 patents and has deep interests in quantum computing, robotics, space technologies, autonomous energy systems, ethical AI, and the metaverse.
